OUR MISSION

I was inspired to create Preferred Matcha Tea Company after discovering Matcha Tea and its profound effects on my health and well-being.

 

Having lived with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia since first being diagnosed in 1991 with subsequent bouts of symptoms, recurrences, chemotherapy, and many radiation therapy sessions, my white blood cells continued to rise with no cure. I researched and tried every green product on the market to no avail.

 

One day, my mother mentioned seeing a television special on a green tea called Matcha. I purchased the tea from my local health food store and I drank the tea for several months. Although the tea was bitter, I continued to drink it. My white blood cell count was at 40. I went to my scheduled oncology visit and was told that my white blood cells dropped to 28. The doctor repeated the test because she thought there was an error. Again, the test revealed a white blood count of 28. I told the doctor that the only thing I was doing differently, was drinking Japanese Matcha tea. I was told there were no miracles and that my numbers would go back up the next visit. I continued drinking Matcha tea daily and went back to my oncologist. The next visit my white blood cell count lowered to 19. Again, my oncologist asked me what I was doing. I told her about the Matcha tea and I mentioned that the Mayo Clinic did studies years ago on the effects of the chemical EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) on patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and after a phase II clinical trial, found that there was a decrease of patients' white blood cells. Matcha tea has the highest level of EGCG than any other green tea. Three months later, my white blood cell count lowered again to 17. 

 

My husband and I went to Japan to visit tea producers and Matcha tea farms and we participated in several tea ceremonies throughout the different prefectures of Japan. I found the supplier with a superior quality and the best tasting Organic Ceremonial Matcha Tea.
